Here are some shots of Tacloban City and how the people spent their Christmas eve.
We arrived in Tacloban on December 24, Christmas eve, almost 6 am in the morning. Soon, after arriving in the place we’re staying, we walked around the city to see the people and to buy some fruits for Noche Buena.
The smell of the place is still unpleasant but the people has gone accustomed to it. It was also raining but the people were too busy in buying stuff because it will soon be dark. There was no electricity yet except for street lights and the curfew is at 8 pm.
As we roamed around, we could see some folks building their houses, buying food for their families, washing their clothes even though it’s raining, kids playing under the rain, vehicles fully packed, etc etc.
Even though the people suffered great loss, you will see how they try to conquer every circumstance. They still hope, smile and believe. They even joke around. It was really a privilege being with the Taclobenos and seeing their resilience makes me a proud Filipino.
